FAQ’s
How long do you see a Dietitian for?
It all depends what you’re seeing us for. Most people work with us for several months, but it could be different based on your unique needs. We’ll give you an idea at the end of your first session after we’ve gotten a chance to learn more about your needs. Since we focus on behavioral health as well as nutrition education, there is a lot of work to do. We use follow-up sessions for continued support, accountability, and motivation to make sure you stay on track with your goals.
Do you accept insurance?
Our practice is out-of-network with insurance providers due to Michigan policies and payment is due at the time of your appointment. However, if you have out-of-network insurance benefits, these may apply to nutrition services. Find out more here. We do take FSA/HSA, and also have limited spots for sliding scale services - please call to learn more.
What is your attendance policy?
We ask that if you need to reschedule or cancel your appointment, you do so no sooner than within 24 hours of your appointment. Otherwise, you will be responsible for your full session fee. This is necessary because a time commitment is made to you and is held exclusively for you, and cannot be filled with short notice. If you arrive late for your appointment, we will attempt to accommodate to our best abilities but you may lose some of your appointment time.
I don’t live in Michigan, can I still work with you?
Yes! We are licensed in most states and offer the option to work with all patients virtually. We will meet via video chat and communicate between sessions using email.
What conditions do you provide counseling for?
We see patients for many health conditions and concerns, including but not limited to the following list. If you do not see a concern you need help with, call our office or send us a message to make sure we provide treatment. If we can’t, we will provide a referral so you can get the care you need.
High blood pressure, elevated cholesterol and triglycerides, non-alcoholic/metabolic fatty liver disease, prediabetes and type 2 diabetes, gout, gallstones, PCOS/PMOS, food allergies and intolerances, IBS, SIBO, EoE, FPIES, CSID, celiac disease, GERD, gastroparesis, dysphagia, nutrient deficiencies, hypo- and hyperthyroidism, osteoporosis; nutrition for GLP-1 support; nutrition for special groups like older adults, vegans and vegetarians, peri-through post-menopause, and athletes; enteral/tube feeding support; and general healthy eating if you would like to take a food-first approach to preventative healthcare.
