Eosinophilic Esophagitis (EoE)
Nutrition Counseling in Farmington Hills, MI
An EoE diagnosis can turn every meal into a question mark. Our Registered Dietitians help you and your family find a way of eating that supports your treatment and keeps you confidently nourished.
How a Dietitian Helps with EoE
Modifying foods is one of the main tools in EoE care, and changing what you eat is a big job. It can feel overwhelming to leave the doctor's office with a list of foods to avoid. Our goal is to make your diet feel manageable so you can focus less on what you can't eat and more on feeling good again. Our Registered Dietitians help you:
Plan an elimination diet that matches what your GI or allergist recommends
Fill nutrition gaps when you remove foods so you still get enough essential nutrients such as calcium, vitamin D, protein, fiber, and overall calories
Make meals that work: grocery lists, simple recipes, eating out, safe snacks, and more
Read labels with confidence and spot hidden sources of trigger foods
Support growth and feeding for infants, children, and even adults to may struggle with unintentional weight loss or who struggle with dysphagia/trouble swallowing due to esophageal strictures

Frequently Asked Questions
Can a dietitian help with eosinophilic esophagitis?
Yes. A Registered Dietitian helps you follow an EoE elimination diet safely, avoid nutrient gaps, read food labels, and reintroduce foods step by step. MP Nutrition offers EoE nutrition counseling in Farmington Hills, MI, and nationally by video.
What foods most often trigger EoE?
Milk, wheat, egg, soy, peanuts and tree nuts, and fish and shellfish are common trigger foods. Triggers are different for each person and are confirmed by reintroducing foods with follow-up endoscopies. Even though EoE is an allergic condition, traditional food allergy testing of IgE antibodies are not used to identify EoE triggers because EoE involves a non-IgE mediated immune response. Therefore, triggers must be assessed with elimination diets.
Do I have to cut out six foods/follow the traditional 6-food elimination diet?
Not always. Some people start by removing one or two of the top triggers. Others remove more. The best decision for you can depend on many factors such as your presentation of disease, access to repeat endoscopies, risk tolerance to nutritional deficiencies, ability to maintain a restrictive and diet for a long period of time, and more. You should have a conversation with your gastroenterologist or allergist to agree on a realistic approach, and we'll help you make it work day to day with a diet plan.
Do you work with children with EoE?
Yes. We work with patients of all ages with EoE.
Can I meet with you virtually?
Yes. We see patients for EoE in person at 25882 Orchard Lake Rd, Farmington Hills, MI, or by secure video in most states. Please call or send us a message to confirm we can see you in your state before booking.
How much does it cost, and is it covered by insurance?
Your first 60-minute visit is $160, and 30-minute follow-ups are $80. MP Nutrition is out-of-network with insurance, and payment is due at your appointment. If you have out-of-network benefits, they may apply but you need to verify your coverage. We also accept HSA and FSA cards.
